Family:  Tripterygiidae (Triplefin blennies), subfamily: Tripterygiinae
Max. size:  8 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; marine; depth range 0 - 30 m
Distribution:  Eastern Indian Ocean: southern Australia, from Western Australia to Victoria and Tasmania.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 15-19; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-12; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 19-21
Biology:  Adults are found in intertidal rock pools. Larger adult size in cooler water and shallow estuaries under jetties (Ref. 9002). Eggs are hemispherical and covered with numerous sticky threads that anchor them in the algae on the nesting sites (Ref. 240). Larvae are planktonic which occur primarily in shallow, nearshore waters (Ref. 94114).
