Distribution:  South America: Upper Tocantins River basin in Brazil.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Largest specimen collected is 38.5 cm SL (Mark Sabaj Perez, pers. comm.; http://www.scotcat.com/auchenipteridae/tocantinsia_piresi.htm).
