Max. size:  13 cm TL (male/unsexed); 11 cm TL (female)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 175 - 428 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean and Southeast Atlantic: Zanzibar, Tanzania to Port Alfred, South Africa.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 4-4; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-8; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 7-7. Body greenish and reddish brown above, whitish below; fins with violet streaks distally (Ref. 4405). 1st dorsal fin of males high, with oblique dark bands (Ref. 4405).
Biology:  Found on mud bottoms.
