Family:  Sebastidae (Rockfishes, rockcods and thornyheads), subfamily: Sebastinae
Max. size:  51 cm TL (male/unsexed); max.weight: 1,450.0 g; max. reported age: 18 years
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 0 - 302 m
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: San Francisco, California, USA to Cape San Quintin, Baja California, Mexico.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabit rocky areas. Reported to reach 64 cm, but specimens over 51 cm may have been the redbanded rockfish, Sebastes babcocki. Adults feed on fish and crustaceans (Ref. 131055). Viviparous (Ref. 34817).
