Family:  Sebastidae (Rockfishes, rockcods and thornyheads), subfamily: Sebastinae
Max. size:  36 cm TL (male/unsexed); max. reported age: 14 years
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 15 - 128 m
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: Puget Sound, Washington, USA to central Baja California, Mexico; but doubtful north of California.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Caught fairly often by sport fishers using small hooks (Ref. 2850). Viviparous (Ref. 34817).
