| Africa: distribution unknown. Type locality is "Lake Tanganyika", but there is serious doubt about the type locality of this species as Poll (1946) mentioned the absence of schilbeids from the Lake itself; possibly the type specimen of this species was collected in the Luala River (Kasai River basin) and was wrongly labelled afterwards (Ref. 43912). Ref. 3570 reports that the type may originate from "Lago Tana" (=Lake Tana in Ethiopia) instead of "Lago Tanganika". |

Dorsal spines (total): 1; Anal soft rays: 45. Description: only known from the holotype, which is in very bad condition, all barbels and fins being broken; 9 branchiostegal rays on one side
of head; inner side of pectoral spine feebly serrated; posterior side of dorsal spine provided with a few very small serrations; snout reaching beyond lower jaw; head rounded (Ref. 43912).
Coloration: in alcohol: no valid colour markings are observable; type entirely brown (Ref. 43912). |
