Family:  Rhyacichthyidae (Loach gobies)
Max. size:  18 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; brackish; marine; depth range 0 - 5 m, amphidromous
Distribution:  Oceania: New Caledonia and Vanuatu.
Diagnosis:  Vertebrae: 12-15. Characterized by having 12+15 vertebrae; head, body and fins speckled and mottled with black with darker rows of spots and lines along body and fins (Ref. 92840).
Biology:  Max. length (Christine Pöllabauer, pers. comm., 2001).
