Max. size:  40 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Solimões and Amazon rivers in Brazil upstream of the mouth of the Madeira River; also from a single locality in the GuaporĂ© River in Brazil.
Diagnosis:  Description: anal-fin rays 320-345 (Ref. 99943).
Biology:  Occurs mostly in floodplains of large rivers, where it is frequently collected together with Rhamphichthys drepanium and R. marmoratus.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 28 December 2020 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
