Family:  Loricariidae (Armored catfishes), subfamily: Hypostominae
Max. size:  11.4 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Upper Negro River basin, including Canal Casiquiare basin in Venezuela.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 2-2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-7; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 5-5. Body charcoal gray to black with white spots and a white band in the caudal fin. Dorsal base length to caudal depth ratio, 3.2-3.5 SL. Lateral line plates 23-25; dorsal plates 6-7; interdorsal plates 5-7; adipose-caudal plates 7-8; folded dorsal fin plates 11-12; and postanal plates 11-12 (Ref. 40437).
