Family:  Pseudochromidae (Dottybacks), subfamily: Pseudochrominae
Max. size:  12 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 3 - 27 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific Ocean: China and Japan south to Indonesia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 3-3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 24-26; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 13-14. Description: Characterized by white to slightly yellowish color with dark grey snout, forehead and upper back (common variety), black stripe from snout tip to end of dorsal fin base; (Komodo Island variety) overall yellowish to brown color with similar markings; anterior lateral line scales 28-35; predorsal scales 21-27; depth of body 29.6-35.2 % of SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Occurs on silty coastal habitat with remote coral heads to soft bottom at shallow depths to about 25 m (Ref. 48635). Also found on coral or rocky patches. Solitary (Ref 90102).
