Description: Characterized by having greatest depth of body 2.5-3.0 in SL; fleshy protuberance at front of upper lip absent in male; without prolonged dorsal spines, male with elevated soft dorsal and anal fins; emarginate female caudal fin, truncate to slightly rounded caudal fin in male (Ref. 90102). |
| Found inshore (Ref. 75154). Usually occurs in groups on well-protected reefs of lagoons or bays (Ref. 2334, 48635). |
