Description: Characterized by orange brown body color, shading to olive grey posteriorly; side of body with about 17 orange-red bars; numerous small pale green to whitish flecks dorsally and midlaterally on posterior two-thirds of body; peduncular plates, yellow; caudal fin, yellow; series of 8-10 keeled bony plates on posterior half of body, ending on caudal fin base; greatest depth of body 2.0-2.2 in SL (Ref. 90102). |
| Found swimming in loose groups around rocky outcrops, usually in high energy zones. Sometime solitary or in pairs (Ref. 90102). Prefer the areas with cool up-wellings (Ref. 48637). |
