Max. size:  7.9 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 2 - 4 m
Distribution:  Western Central Pacific: off Komodo Island, Indonesia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 13-13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-13; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 13-14. Description: Tubed lateral line scales 18; a row of scales covering rear part of suborbital; brown in color, often lighter on anterior half; body scales with dark margins, imparting reticulated pattern; caudal fin emarginate (Ref. 31117). Body depth 1.8-1.9 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Adults found in surge-affected shallows with a variable-sized boulder substrate (Ref. 31117). They stay close to shelter (Ref. 31117). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205). Diurnal species (Ref. 52881).
