Family:  Scorpaenidae (Scorpionfishes or rockfishes), subfamily: Scorpaeninae
Max. size:  59 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 180 - 310 m
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: Cape Verde and off Mauritania; one specimen from northern Namibia (Ref. 4313).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 12-12; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-11; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 5-5. Mostly reddish (Ref. 4313).
Biology:  Probably found over rough bottom (Ref. 4510).
IUCN Red List Status: Data deficient (DD); Date assessed: 03 May 2013 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
