Description: Characterized by pale tan to dark brown color, sometimes with about 8 diffuse pale bars crossing back and upper side in dark fish, or pairs of brown spots on trunk below lateral trunk ridge; 10 caudal rays; rings 15 + 32-33; continuous superior and inferior trunk ridges with corresponding tail ridges; lateral trunk ridge ends at anal ring; length of snout 3.1-3.6 in head length; depth of snout 1.4-1.6 in snout length; head length 9.9-11.0 in SL (Ref. 90102). |
| Ovoviviparous (Ref. 205). The male carries the eggs in a brood pouch which is found under the tail (Ref. 205). Males may be brooding at 5.2 cm SL. |
