Max. size:  20 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; pH range: 8 - 8.5; dH range: 10 - 15; depth range - 0 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Africa: endemic to the south and north ends of Lake Malawi.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found over rocks at preferred depths of 0 to at least 30 m. Have been observed feeding on crabs and from the sediment on the rocks (Ref. 5595).

Threat to humans:  harmless
