Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 6.5 - 7.5
Distribution:  Oceania: known only from the Ok Tedi River and its tributaries, in the Upper Fly River system of southern Papua New Guinea.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 6-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 18-19; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 24-26
Biology:  Inhabits mountain streams of 300-500 m elevation 900-950 km upstream from the sea (Ref. 2847). Is an omnivorous egg layer, generally peaceful community fish which prefers the following aquarium conditions: pH=7.3, H=12, 23°C water temperature with rock, plant and driftwood cover (Ref. 6398).
