Distribution:  Africa: lower Niger, the Bénoué and the Voltas. Also known from the upper Niger (Ref. 3203). Affinities: close to Marcusenius cyprinoides.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 34-39; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 32-36. Dorsal fin origin at same level as anal fin origin; body depth 3.0-4.7x of SL; peduncle height 3.2-5.0x of its length.
