Family:  Liopropomatidae (Painted basslets), subfamily: Liopropomatinae
Max. size:  17.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 60 - 80 m
Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands, palau and Indonesia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 8-8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-12; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Description: Characterized by pale brown color on back and white below; prominent dark brown midlateral stripe; juvenile with yellow snout and dark brown patch basally on caudal fin; adult with dorsal and caudal fins yellow and lower head with narrow yellow stripe; enlarged pore anterior and slightly medial to posterior nostril and another lying below and anterior to posterior nostril; pelvic fins 1.8-2.0 in head length (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Solitary and secretive in reef crevices in 60-80 m (Ref 90102).
