Max. size:  9.4 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; depth range 2 - 28 m
Distribution:  Africa: Lake Malawi basin.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 14-17; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-12; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 8-10; Vertebrae: 29-30. The nape and the upper part of head are distinctively orange-brown in male adults (Ref. 49505).
Biology:  Caught at shallow depths (2-15 m), but also observed in a trawl between 20-28 m (Ref. 49505). Females produce about 30 eggs per batch (Ref. 49505).
