Family:  Labridae (Wrasses)
Max. size:  15 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 35 - 200 m
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: Including Madeira and the Mediterranean; barely touching into the northernmost portion of the area, if at all.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found in deep rocky areas. Feed on crabs, gastropods and polychaetes (Ref. 4742).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 25 February 2014 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
