Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 0 - 840 m, oceanodromous
Distribution:  Circumglobal in the southern hemisphere from about 35°S to Antarctica.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 5-6; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 35-39
Biology:  Oceanic, mesopelagic or bathypelagic species (Ref. 6601).
