Diagnosis:  A medium-size species in Hyphessobrycon. Body height: 34-38% SL. Head length: 22-25% SL. A black elongated triangular blotch just behind gill slit less long than the pectoral fin. Top of dorsal fin black with red tip. Adipose fin red. Body translucid.
