Max. size:  15 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: Atlantic Slope from St. Lawrence River drainage in Quebec, Canada to Altamaha River drainage in Georgia, USA; Lake Ontario drainage in Ontario, Canada and New York, USA.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in pools and backwaters of low-gradient creeks and small to large rivers (Ref. 86798). Oviparous, open substratum spawners (Ref. 205, 52559). Feeds on plant material, benthic diatoms, algae and detritus (Ref. 93252).
