Family:  Howellidae (Oceanic basslets)
Max. size:  8 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 26 - 950 m
Distribution:  South Atlantic, central South Pacific, and off S and SE Australia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 9-9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-10; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 7-8. Dark brown with silvery reflections (Ref. 2710).
Biology:  Feed on pelagic crustaceans (Ref. 58748).
