Environment:  reef-associated; marine
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific southern Australia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 29-31; Dorsal soft rays (total): 5-7; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 22-24. Pelvic fin rays thick, finger-like (Ref. 9002). Yellowish-brown, indistinct banding; usually a series of black spots low in dorsal fin (Ref. 9002).
Biology:  Inhabits shallow coastal algae and kelp reefs (Ref. 9002).

Threat to humans:  harmless
