Hemipsilichthys gobio (Lütken, 1874)

Max. size:  15.64 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Paraíba do Sul River basin.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-7; Anal soft rays: 6-6. Dorsal series of lateral scutes on both sides not meeting along the middorsal line between the end of dorsal-fin base and the adipose fin; both tooth lobes approximately equal size; orbital diameter 12.0-14.7% HL (Ref. 42856).
Biology:  Occurs in small rivers, with clear water, moderate to strong current, and a substrate of rocks, loose stones and gravel (Ref. 57859).
