Max. size:  8.9 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Solimões, Negro, and Orinoco River basins.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal fin plain, with no blotch; longitudinal midlateral dark stripe starting just after the opercle, not after the eye as in H. tocantinensis and H. ternetzi.
Biology:  Oviparous (Ref. 205).
