| Biology: | Inhabits shallow sandy region (Ref. 4983). Feeds on sub-imaginal Ephemeroptera. Isoptera and colonial blue-green algae were also found in a few specimens. The occurrence of sub-imaginal or adult insects and planktonic blue-green algae, together with the absence of bottom debris suggests that H. macrops feeds at the surface or in mid-water (Ref. 558). | |||
