Family:  Syngnathidae (Pipefishes and seahorses), subfamily: Syngnathinae
Max. size:  9.4 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 1 - 33 m
Distribution:  Eastern Central Pacific: endemic to the Hawaiian Islands.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Benthic (Ref. 58302). Specimens have been taken from a tide pool, shallow reefs and beaches. Ovoviviparous (Ref. 205). The males carry the eggs in a brood pouch which is found under the tail (Ref. 205). Males may be brooding at 9.4 cm SL.
