Family:  Muraenidae (Moray eels), subfamily: Muraeninae
Max. size:  30 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 60 - 180 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: eastern Florida (USA), Bahamas, and Cuba.
Diagnosis:  Small, short snout, pale branching marks on brownish background over entire body and fins (Ref. 26938).
Biology:  Found in coastal waters (Ref. 26340).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 17 August 2011 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
