Found in pools and along banks, occasionally in swift water, in highland streams. A midwater and bottom swimmer, occasionally at or near the surface. Sensitive to high chlorine content and warm, turbid, poorly oxygenated, stagnant water. Feeds on diatoms, algae, detritus and insect larvae. |
