Distribution:  Asia: India.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 1-1; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-7; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 5-5. 13 predorsal scales, 2 1/2 scale rows between lateral line and pelvic fin origin, transverse groove on snout, weakly developed proboscis, scaleless chest, dorsal and pectoral fin rays branched, and vent midway between pelvic and anal fin origins; transverse black bar on dorsal fin and longitudinal black band on middle of caudal fin (Ref. 42976).
