Max. size:  5.4 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater, non-migratory
Distribution:  North America: formerly found in Boquillas and Graham Ranch springs, Brewster County in Texas; now restricted to an artificial spring-fed pond in Big Bend National Park in Texas, USA.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits vegetated, spring-fed sloughs and ponds (Ref. 5723).
IUCN Red List Status: Vulnerable (VU); Date assessed: 03 February 2012 (D2) Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
