Max. size:  2.5 cm TL (male/unsexed); 6 cm (female)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; brackish, non-migratory
Distribution:  Central America: Haiti and Dominican Republic. Distributed through the aquarium trade industry.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Viviparous (Ref. 205). Introduced to billabongs and streams in the vicinity of Alice Springs during the 1940s and 1950s for the purpose of mosquito control. Some researchers place it in the genus Limia (Ref. 44894).
