| Diagnosis: | Dorsal soft rays (total): 4-5; Anal soft rays: 7-8. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: dorsal fin 4 or 5; dissimilar colour pattern in male, made of rubens-red colour contrasted by black thin flames at all unpaired fins, except on tip of dorsal and caudal-fins and on base of anal-fin that remain hyaline; anal-fin rays usually 7 or 8; and anal-fin being short based, rounded and very deep, and by a very high D/A deviation ratio +9 to 11 (Ref. 138060). | |||
