Max. size:  18.5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic-oceanic; marine
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: east of Bermuda and in the Gulf of Mexico.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 21-23; Anal soft rays: 35-37. Body elongate and slender. Snout protrusible. Long chin barbel, slender, terminal bulb preceded by long simple filament. Barbel stem has little or no pigment. Black in color (Ref. 37039).
Biology:  Feeds on midwater fishes (Ref. 37039).
