Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Smiliogastrinae
Max. size:  4.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Lake Tsana (?) and Chad basin. Records from West Africa are doubtful. Not in Lake Victoria, where it is a misidentification of Barbus cercops (Ref. 52331).
