Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Smiliogastrinae
Max. size:  6.3 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; depth range 18 - 65 m,
Distribution:  Africa: endemic to Lake Victoria (Ref. 38676, 105015, 105016).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in offshore localities (Ref. 2801). Able to sustain pelagic existence; feeds on lakefly larvae and pupae (Ref. 105016).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 03 November 2015 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
