Family:  Emmelichthyidae (Rovers)
Max. size:  7.44 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; marine
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Eritrea, Red Sea.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 12-13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-8; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 10-11. This species is distinguished by the following characters: spinous and soft-rayed portions of dorsal fin separated by a gap containing 4 or 5 short isolated spines, which are protruding over the dorsal surface of the body; D XII-XIII,8; pectoral-fin rays 18-20; lateral-line scales 80-83; total gill rakers 26-31; depth of body 16.5-20.2% SL (Ref. 96673).
