Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 10 - 30 m
Distribution:  Western Central Atlantic: Bahamas and the Antilles to northern Venezuela. Does not occur in central America.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-12; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 10-10
Biology:  Occurs inside tube sponges.
