Doryrhamphus malus (Whitley, 1954)

Max. size:  6.2 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine
Distribution:  Western Pacific: endemic to Australia from Mackay Reef to Masthead Islands on the Great Barrier Reef, Queensland.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Known to depths of ca. 6 m. Ovoviviparous (Ref. 205). The male carries the eggs in a brood pouch which is found under the tail (Ref. 205).
