Max. size:  14 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Approuague River in French Guiana to the Demerara River in Guyana.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Maximum length does not exceed 20 cm (Ref. 27188). Occurs upstream of the first rapids, in forest creeks with moderate illumination, slow current and sandy-silty substrate, together with Moenkhausia moisae, Moenkhausia oligolepis, Pyrrhulina filamentosa and Dysichthys coracoideus [= Bunocephalus coracoideus (Ref. 35237).
