| Diagnosis: | Dorsal spines (total): 6-6; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-11; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 11-11. Translucent orangish gray dorsally shading to violet gray ventrally; 2 diffuse orange lines running posteriorly from eye; dorsal fin rays red (Ref. 13442). | |||
| Biology: | Occurs in schools near large coral columns and heads. Has been reared in captivity (Ref. 35408). Hovers above bottom in caves and shaded areas in reefs (Ref. 26938). | |||
