Max. size:  6.1 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine
Distribution:  Western Central Atlantic.
Diagnosis:  Body pale with 6 irregular bands; dark bar at base of caudal fin; oblique dark bars on dorsal fins (Ref. 026938); first dorsal fin with VII spines; lack scales on the head and anterior section of body; have modified basicaudal scales on the caudal peduncle; have completely separate pelvic fins; light to dark brown body color with darker bars on sides (Ref. 92840).
Biology:  Inhabits sandy areas with rock or algae cover (Ref. 92840).
