Max. size:  10.2 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; brackish; marine
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean and Southeast Atlantic: Natal to Knysna in South Africa. Once recorded from Moro River in Natal, South Africa (Ref. 4343).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-10; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 9-10. Body with irregular crossbars anteriorly, spots posteriorly; dorsal fin with 2-3 stripes (Ref. 2798).
