Family:  Diceratiidae (Double anglers (Ref. 07463) or Doublespine Seadevils (Ref. 86949))
Max. size:  10.1 cm SL (female)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 0 - 1200 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Mozambique Channel and off the northeast coast of Taiwan.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 5-6; Anal soft rays: 4-4. Metamorphosed females differs from Bufoceratias wedli and Bufoceratias thele in having a considerably shorter illicium (25-40% standard length versus 83-225% standard length) and a much larger and more complex esca (Ref. 51070). Description: Distinguishing characteristics: lower jaw with 25-30 teeth, upper jaw with 34-42; vomerine teeth 8-11 (Ref. 86949).
Biology:  Males and larvae unknown (Ref. 51070). Minimum depth from Ref. 58018.
