Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Lake Malawi.
Diagnosis:  Description: interorbital width <25% head length (Ref. 55954). Coloration: large part of the oblique dorsal band, posterior to the level of the anal fin origin, situated below the upper part of the lateral line (Ref. 55954).
Biology:  Has been observed in different habitats but always near rocks. A piscivore which regularly hunts in packs (Ref. 5595).
