Distribution:  South America: coastal streams of the Guiana Shield.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Swims incessantly. Common and ubiquitous but is more frequently encountered at low tide in creeks with swift-flowing waters. Feeds on plants and various invertebrates (Ref. 12225).
