Distinguished from its congeners in Europe by the combination of the following characters: in adults, flank covered by small tubercles (at least in spring), slightly rugous to the touch; caudal fin truncate; dorsal fin origin slightly in front of pelvic origin; caudal peduncle depth 1.6-2.1 times in its depth, 1.7-2.0 times in body depth (Ref. 59043). |
